Forestworks is a bi-partite, wood, expert representative of learning and skill development in the forest, not-for-profit, paper and timber products industry. Through its members and networks, forestworks has access and input to a wide range of other networks and organizations throughout the asia pacific region and globally. Forestworks covers all industry sectors including: - forest growing & management - harvesting & haulage - sawmilling & processing - timber product manufacturing (including, roof truss, wall frames, door and window manufacturing) - wood panel/board production and manufacturing - pulp and paper manufacturing - timber merchandising forestworks has the industry support, membership, demonstrated leadership and expert capacity to lead a wide range of skills development initiatives for the industry. Forestworks goal is to assist industry with their skills development objectives through national industry skills standards and qualifications. Forestworks performs a range of industry-wide functions acting as the channel between industry, government and the australian vocational education and training (vet) departments. Our key stakeholders are: - governments (state and federal) - industry associations including unions - company ceos and senior managers - site managers and supervisors - trainers and assessors - registered training organisations - workers currently employed in the industry and potential new industry entrants.

Jane has been representing workers in the industry for more than 25 years. She has intimate knowledge about workers needs in training and career aspirations and the challenges of developing fresh skills in a speedy paced production environment. Jane has a history of being responsible for entire of organization finances, membership systems and processes, industry and worker engagement, industry development and industry strategy and networking. Tony has 30 years’ experience in all facets of the forest industry, and has a exceptional interest in harvesting, processing and marketing. He has held a number of senior management positions in the hardwood plantation sector and has also operated his own consultancy business. Tony brings a expansive range of executive management and board director experience to ForestWorks and is well connected with industry leaders, which enables him to produce analysis of vogue industry thinking, issues and challenges. Craig has worked in the forest and wood products' industry for many years and has spent many years accepting the dynamics of all sectors of the industry through his role in representing workers. Craig brings to ForestWorks extensive knowledge about all sectors in the industry and personal experience in trade training. Craig has been involved in all aspects of skill development in the industry and has excellent accepting of the mechanisms of government on a expansive range of issues, including vocational education and training. Craig has held various committee and board positions over the years and has a comprehensive understanding of organization structures and corporate strategy from these positions and from his daily interactions with employers in all sectors of the industry. Colin has several experience in the forest industry, particularly in harvesting and haulage contracting. He also played a leading role in the presentation of AusTimber 2008 and was Chairman of AusTimber 2012. Across his various roles in the industry, Colin has made a meaningful contribution to supporting skills' development of employees and improving safety in the workplace. In 2016, Colin was inducted to the Australian Forest Contractors Hall of Fame, recognizing the meaningful contribution he has made to the growth and development of industry. Leo has many years’ experience supporting the forest, wood, timber, furnishing and building products industries. Leo brings to ForestWorks a potent accepting of skills issues and challenges across all sectors of the industry. Members have access to a set of assessment tools, based on the FWD Forest and Wood Products Training Package, which can be worn for their assessment activities. ForestWorks has developed Growing Skills a Trainer Guide’ to aid vocational trainers to address bottom skills in the forest, wood, paper and timber products industry.The guide includes background information about base skills followed by lots of case studies about how trainers have dealt with developing bottom skills for work. We have developed three specific tools for diverse sectors of the forestry industry. Tasmanian forest and timber industry workers and their employers can now access funds to undertake training and flourish their skills to confront the requirements of fresh job roles and responsibilities. Funding can also be accessed to encourage the development or review of a business’ workforce development plan. For more than 15 years, ForestWorks has assisted retrenched workers and local businesses in regional forestry industries via our Workers Assistance Service.
